As a form of cultural expression, Lowriders have been popular with Mexican Americans, particularly male youth, since the 1950s. Any automobile (or bicycle) can be customized in the low rider tradition that includes lowering the frame, special wheels and elaborate painting, often with murals. Today, lowriders are an international phenomenon but continue to be most popular in the American Southwest.
Tucson Meet Yourself annual Lowrider Show awards trophies in all categories: 1940′s – 2011. There is a $10 entry fee for Cars ($15 the day of the show) – Bike entries free.
